Four Thoughts on Klem (2007)

~four short digital soundscapes to accompany the photography of Jesse Klemmer

The sound component of Four Thoughts on Klem was designed in Max/MSP.  Among the sound tools used are sample playback and modification, an FM synthesizer, a random tone generator, and a granular synthesis unit.  One of my goals in creating this work was to design a structured environment for improvisation.  I built a MIDI control feature so that I could use the Evolution UC-33 MIDI controller in performance of this piece.  The design interface also includes a number of computer-influenced decisions that contribute to the resultant sound.
